Description:
A delicious healthy treat! The lemon juice is optional, but it does help to prevent the browning of the avocado.
Ingredients:
- 1 fully ripe avocado
- freshly grounded black pepper (as much as you like)
- a dash of fine salt
- 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)
Directions:
Spread:
- cut open avocado, remove core and scoop the fruit out with a spoon
- add in lemon juice, pepper and salt to the avocado
- mash them up with a spoon and mix well
- serve immediately with your favorite crackers, bread and even mix in with your salads
Eat It as It Is:
- simply add lesser salt, and you can eat it as it is
How to tell if an avocado is ripe:
A fully ripe avocado is suppose to be dark brown, sometimes with a hint of red, in its skin color.
You may also feel abit of softness when holding it firmly.
However, it is more common the get barely riped ones, which is in green, off the shelves of supermarkets.
My suggestion is to buy them as it is, and let them "wait out" in your fridge till they are ready.
Please also note that unripe avocados would be unsuitable for this spread, as the fruit would be too hard to mash and would certainly be less tasty as it should be.
